Reading your own blog is funny

And so I was too busy doing nothing to even remember that I have a blog. So, for almost an hour, I’ve been reading my posts. Most are lame and I don’t get why I still get visitors. >:D

Hopefully, I’d have more time to fill this baby up. It’s real fun going back to what I’ve been doing with my insignificant life and realizing I haven’t been any better.

Lipat Bahay

I think wala kang choice kung hindi mag taxi or maglakad. Gusto ko nalalakad lang, pero pag maglakad ka ng 45 minutes araw araw papasok sa office, wag na lang.

Kailangan ko nang lumipat.

Monsters vs Aliens

From Wikipedia

From Wikipedia

I finally got to see Monsters vs Aliens yesterday with friends. It’s a great and fun watch and it’s actually the only movie yet that we enjoyed watching together. Not that we watch a lot, but still… it’s a first.

I was amazed at how different Hugh Laurie’s (Dr Cockroach) voice was. I watch a lot of House where he plays a, well, a mean doctor, and I just can’t put the cockroach’s voice to House’s face.

The general (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) is very much like Jack Bauer that he’s somebody with a gun who works for the government and somebody who always shouts orders. Jack Bauer is 24’s lead character played by Kiefer Sutherland, which I also watch a lot.

The alien, which is voiced by Rainn Wilson, is very much like him in The Office. If you are familiar with The Office, Rainn Wilson plays an the egocentric salesman. And there’s nothing different about his voice too.

That giant insect, which I thought was a boy-insect, turned into a gay butterfly. That was funny.

And I agree that B.O.B. is the funniest of the lot.

Go watch it, if you haven’t yet.

Zodiac

I can’t imagine the Americans have these kinds of criminals on the loose. Well, to be fair, it happened before the high-end stalker technology stuff. I took a break from watching war movies and I slipped in Zodiac, which I already had a copy of for a few months now but I never had the time to watch or there’s more interesting movies to watch first… or so I thought. It’s frustrating in the end but definitely a great watch nonetheless.

Burn After Reading

This one has too much kerfuffle going on! And I enjoyed it. It’s a happy ending for one of the main characters because she got to fulfill something she so much wanted for herself.  It’s a funny ending for the agency because they learned something not to mess with that kind of trouble again, but they can’t figure out where it all started in the first place… or what the problem is really about. Funny.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

from Wikipedia

from Wikipedia

I learned about this movie as a suggestion by http://tastekid.com after I keyed-in “Howl’s Moving Castle”. I only realized that it was a love story when I was at the middle of it. The story revolves around Makoto and her time-leaping and how it affects her friendship with and her two friends, Chiaki and Kosuke. Makoto learned she can move back in time after she, on her faulty bike, was about to hit by a train. Soon, she mastered time leaping and started enjoying doing it, moving back in time as she pleases, without realizing that the time leaps are numbered (or charge-driven). There was a scene where the three friends are going their separate routes home and Chiaki offered Makoto a ride (because Makoto had her bike repaired that time) and Makoto agreed. During that trip, they were talking about Kosuke having a girlfriend and having no time for them anymore and there’ll just be the two of them hanging around. Then Chiaki asked Makoto out. Makoto, clueless on how to react, time-leaped back to the moment where they are going their separate ways. She still agreed on Chiaki’s offer thinking that he won’t ask her out on that “version” of the trip but no matter how many times she time-leaped, Chiaki always asked her out. Until she time-leaped to that scene again and just walked home. This affected her friendship with Chiaki and also of the other people around her. Watch it to know how it ends.

It is a great watch. I highly recommend it.

Quantum Of Solace

From Wikipedia

From Wikipedia

Daniel Craig is back as the popular womanizer. Ok, cutting the crap. I enjoyed the movie. The car chase at the beggining of the film was great. I wasn’t sure about Olga though. I think she could have done better. Her running, on top of the long building in the desert, was so rehearsed. It’s just bad, her running. I don’t know why her really bad running stuck on me. Also, Bond is good not only good in car chases but he’s also great in plane chases! There was a scene where Bond (as the pilot of a nobody-ones-to-be-in-there-because-its-smoking-and-its-going-to-crash-anytime plane) was able to successfully, ahm, “lead” a fighter jet plane to crashing. Amazing.

I liked that scene when they jumped off from the flaming plane. The way they shot the falling thing was great. You can really feel how fast the falling was.

But despite the bad running, it’s still a great watch.

Punisher: War Zone

from Wikipedia

from Wikipedia

I have seen the first Punisher movie. I think I liked that one better but I can’t remember. In this second attempt, Castle is depicted as more ruthless. I don’t know if he’s that way in the comics because I haven’t seen any Punisher in print. In the first 15 minutes or so of the movie, I felt that Castle will not be having any lines. He’ll just go on remorselessly shooting, kicking, stabbing, punching and drawing out blood from numerous bad guys. There was a scene where the bad guy already surrendered to the cop. And the cop was already reading the bad guy his you-have-the-right-to-shut-up rights when Castle just pulled the trigger on the bad guy’s face and the cop went “EEEEEK!” (I am not sure how to put his scream in words though). Oh and the dialogues are boring.

I enjoyed it nonetheless. Gotta like them guns and gore.

Waltz With Bashir

from Wikipedia

from Wikipedia

Waltz With Bashir is an animated movie from Israel which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film (among other awards). It’s about how the main character, Ari (who also wrote, produced and directed the film), tries to piece-up memories that he didn’t know he had of the war he fought in. He met with friends and people who was with him during the time in order to help him remember.

I enjoyed it. It made me realize how it’s possible that one can completely (and unconsciously) wipe-out any recollection of a tragic past. Not that I have a past that I want to completely wipe-out… or maybe I have one and I just can’t remember.

Hmmm, I should start watching other movies. I have been watching war-themed movies for the past months.

Playlist: Katy Perry

I got Katy Perry’s album a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I had it on loop and I am hooked.

She has a track “Ur So Gay” with the lines Ur so gay and u don’t even like boys. She’s one cool chick.
