Nickelback’s new Dark Horse album is currently on repeat in my playlist. I especially like “Gotta Be Somebody”, “I’d Come For You” and “Today Was Your Last Day”. The lyrics are somewhat cheesy though. Coldplay’s Viva La Vida is also addictive. Most of the songs are repeat-worthy. Check out “Viva La Vida”, “Lost!”, “Lovers in Japan” and “Strawberry Swing”

Nope. I am not having one. I just like the word, that’s all. I am still up early at 7:30 AM with a bearable little throbbing in my head. Last night, Sam treated us (Me, Miko, Jay Cas, Jay Cru, Phoebe, Robert, Topher, Anjo, Maika) to dinner at Sis palutuan in Ortigas Home Depot. We had sugpo, tahong, talaba and crab. After the fattening meal, we went to BBQBoy for drinks.
We were discussing about how we can tell if the other had already too much to drink. The topic never gets old but I figured I haven’t posted anything about it so here goes. Let’s start with me. Phoebe and Sam said that it’s really easy to tell if I am already hammered. I get irritable and demanding and I start to talk loud. The giveaway is that if I start asking for hot soup, then I am really drunk. For Sam, he has what Phoebe calls “tingin na lumalagpas” – he can’t look straight, akala nya siguro nakatingin sya sa yo pero hindi, parang laging malayo ang tingin. For Phoebe, madada pa rin pero minsan tahimik na at inaamin niyang lasing na sya. For Jay Cas, nagiging makulit at warfreak — may “hobby” syang mamaso, dinadampi nya ung yosi sa kamay mo. Every one of us except Dhon and Miko have “Jay Cas marks” already. Phoebe even said that there’ll be a time na magkakarambulan kami ni Jay Cas kasi pareho kaming warfreak pag lasing. Si Miko, well, napapa-english na, meron syang line na “I know I am drunk but I am still going home”. Si Robert naman nagiging conversationalist, hehe. Si Dhon naman, hindi ko pa sya nakikitang lasing, pero sabi nila nag-aamok daw. Haha.
Last night, wala naman na-lasing masyado. Walang namaso, walang humingi ng sabaw so walang lasing… baka si Topher lang.
After work, dumiretso ako sa Chiggy’s to join Phoebe and Sam for a few drinks to celebrate Sam’s 29th birthday in advance. The plan was to literally wait for 12 midnight para salubungin ang kapanganakan ni Sam. We had a few beers. The liempo was the best pulutan I’ve had yet. The sisig we didn’t like much – a bit too salty for our taste and it lacks the egg.
It was a fun night with most of the joke falling on me being an Angus look-alike. We never really ran out of stuff to talk and laugh about — which amazes me. It ranged from Ai-ai to Nancy Drew to Anne Hathaway to Archie and Reggie of the popular digest. It was overall a just-chillin’ ambiance. (Well, Sam had a little too much I suppose).
We were able to count down to 12 midnight as planned. We paid the bill shortly after – a little over 700. The food was expensive than our usual pulutan but the liempo was worth it. We walked to tektite to take a cab. We had a little stopover at McDo and Phoebe bought each one of us a sundae cone. What a trip.
Sam will be treating us to dinner tomorrow. Man, you’re old!
Four people have told me already that I look like Angus, one of our HK colleagues. Whatever. I think it’s the hair.
It’s January and it’s raining and I don’t get it. I woke up past seven this morning, a little less than two hours than my target waking time. It was cold and it’s always good to oversleep when it’s cold… and so I overslept that is why I arrived at work an hour later than my usual login time which is before eight. I had a nasty case of migraine in the morning… I can’t work at all. I took the drug but it wasn’t working. I took a little nap but I never thought it would make things worse. I can’t get my head to think straight. I sent a couple mails after I aimlessly browsed through the demo references and the little I know of the stuff I am currently working on… then came lunch.
I had beef bowl. I thought I wasn’t in the mood to take in anything due to the sicky morning but I was able to almost finish my beef bowl. I felt better. The afternoon was busy. There was a brief KT session, then I took a brief self-prepared online course to test one of the issues in my other project, then another brief application support for yet another one of my small projects after quite a long hiatus of mail exchange with the clients. I was able to draft one of the demo scripts assigned to me and I was able to somehow finish it. It was an eventful afternoon that I forgot I had a headache. I figured I still have the energy and the drive to stay at least two hours of overtime work and so I did. I checked what I could with the available stuff I was assigned to check. There was a brief interruption when the database broke down after I attempted to restart it. After a few minutes, it went back up… thanks to one of the devs for that.
Tomorrow is yet another busy day… and I am actually enjoying it. ><

Comingsoon.net, Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li
The first time I’ve read that they are casting that Smallville chick to play Chun-Li, I have a feeling that the newest take on the popular video game will be bad… but I’ll probably watch it anyway. What could get worse than the Van Damme suckfest version?
I am currently downloading an ebook of the David Eddings classic. I have read the series back in college and I liked it so I wanted to read it again. Hindi ko sure kung ako lang, pero the problem with me with books (and also movies) is that alam ko lang kung nagustuhan ko sya or ndi… most of the time I don’t remember the plot or the characters at all.
I also bought a book earlier at National in Trinoma which is about why magic is no longer performed in England. Yeah, magic stuff… I get geekier and geekier with time.
Earlier today, I attended the morning service in CCF. I was late but I think I was in time for the best part of it. There were a couple sharers, the elder pastor’s daughters, whose talk revolved around family and the importance of submission, support, honoring your parents and God. It was quite inspirational.
After the service, I headed to Trinoma to meet with my cousin. She’ll be leaving for Ilocos this afternoon. I gave her some stuff for my brother — a PS2 game and a memory card. We had a quick meal at Kenny’s then we went to look for some special laundry clips na pinapabili ni Mama. There aren’t any in Landmark so we went to the other nearby mall hoping that they have it. We found the clips there. I paid for 5 bags then gave it to my cousin then we went our separate ways.
Tomorrow’s work day again. I better pack on sleep. I think I will be deprived of it for the next couple of weeks.
Just trying WordPress’ QuickPress. WP got a new layout too.
I’ll be heading to Greenhills in a while to buy me a new PS2 console. So why another PS2? I really can’t afford a PS3 and there’s the wide range of games I can still play in PS2. I gave my other PS2 (the white one) to my brother.
