Angels & Demons

I just learned that there’ll be an Angel & Demons movie. Here’s the link I stumbled upon a few minutes ago. Yep, it’s the prequel to the Da Vinci Code. It’ll be Hanks again, of course. I may watch it but it’s not a must.

Broken PC

My PC won’t boot again. It gives off this annoying sound every time I switch on the power. I am assuming it’s a memory problem. I will have it fixed hopefully this Sunday.

Will post about the Anawangin trip soon.

Teacher Teacher

I will be training the new batch of testers starting tomorrow! I have been preparing the past week for the training. There are 5 of them — grading and checking of their exercises will be the most draining part. I can see myself extending work for at least an hour just to cope up with the checking. I would want to provide them with their exercise results asap so that they’d know how they perform earlier. This was no problem during the first time I taught since there’s only two of them. Anyway, this is good experience… and there’s a possibility that I will be handling the next batch of new testers too. And every time a new batch has finished training, there’s always some changes being introduced to the training materials — which is also good. So tomorrow, I will start teaching again. And I hope I won’t screw up.

Next Destination: Anawangin

Some of my officemates and several of their friends outside the office will be having an out-of-town trip next Saturday. There are, so far, 22 of us. I hope the weather won’t be bad.

Anawangin is in Zambales. The one cool thing about the island is that it has pine trees along its shores. Some of my officemates went there before and I was able to see their pictures. The place looks great and as most say, parang hindi Pilipinas. You can check out some pictures in ironwulf.net.

The First – Bandang Walang Pangalan

We left the office last Saturday a little past 2 PM. Jay, Sam, Phoebe, Naz and I went to Robert’s place for their fiesta. Robert was with us of course. We took a bus and endured an hour trip. We finally reached their place and his parents served us food right away. As fiestas go, there were a lot of food. There was a case of beer too. After we’re full, we started drinking. The plan was for each of us (at least Sam and I) to have a couple bottles each only because of the gig we’ll be having later that night. I don’t wanna mess up my lyrics. I ended up having five. I don’t know how much Sam had. Jay, Sam, Phoebe, Naz and I left Robert’s place at 7 PM. Robert did not come with us – fiesta, remember?

The whole trip back to Cubao, I was already yapping how I will end up messing the gig that night. We went to Sam’s place first and I had a quick shower to cool myself and to fetch the other Jay (Norman). We had a change of clothes – just the shirt really. Then we finally went to Dayo Bar. We were at Dayo bar a few minutes before 10 PM. Miko and Dhon arrived a few minutes later. One of the guys there told us that we’re going to go first.

I wasn’t feeling any queasiness really — maybe a little, but I am not shaking. My throat was just dry. And then we were onstage. I just planned to sing. I don’t want to do any talking but while Dhon, Sam, Miko and Jay setting up their stuff, another guy went up onstage and he told me I will have to introduce the band before the first song. I was telling Dhon that he should do the talking but he looked more scared than I was. I finally grabbed the mic, greeted the audience a good evening and told them that we had no name. Then came the songs – everybody was stiff during the first few minutes of My Hero, there was a little mistake with the bass during the middle of Soul to Squeeze, and then came Santeria — our final song which they told us was great. Phoebe has a video but it’s not uploaded online yet. It’s weird watching and listening to myself sing. Pffft!

That was the first.

Tonight at Dayo Bar, Cubao. I don’t know where that is. My stomach does not feel good.

  1. Forgetting Sarrah Marshall
  2. Hell Boy 2
  3. Incredible Hulk (Norton)
  4. Vantage Point
  5. Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day
  6. Nim’s Island
  7. What Happens In Vegas
  8. Death At A Funeral
  9. Finding Neverland
  10. Surf’s Up
  11. Camp Rock

And 80% of this list I regretted watching.

Learning To Rock

A month ago, Dhon, one of the few people I always hang out with in the office, has invited me to join their band. A week after, Sam, another one of the few people I always hang out with in the office, jokingly named the band Miker Learns to Rock — the band was named The Dhon when they played during the company’s Christmas party last year. Lousy but funny. When Dhon told me I was going to be the vocalist, I did not feel anything. I just said I have never sang like that before — I mean in a band. And I sound better when I am drunk… and this and that and then I eventually agreed. We’re gonna play in this year’s Christmas party.

I was thinking it is too early for any practices but then we already had a couple studio rehearsals since last week. We now have a 5-song set. Whoa! I am really doing this!

Doo doo doo doo dingle zing a dong bone!
